JSC «Center for cargo container traffic «TransContainer» was set up as an open joint-stock company on March 4, 2006, on the basis of the assets of a branch of Russian Railways. It has been operating since July 1, 2006. TransContainer was founded and is developing as a vertically integrated business aimed at providing integrated transportation and freight-forwarding services for customers on a door-to-door basis.

For this, the Company is developing its own asset base, including rolling stock and a network of rail-side container terminals, as well as container and truck fleets.
TransContainer is Russia′s largest rail container operator, managing a fleet of over 58,000 containers and over 24,000 specialized flatcars. After Russian Railways, the Company is Russia′s second largest operator of rail-side container terminals, situated at 47 railway stations.

The Company also manages the Dobra container terminal on the border of Slovakia and Ukraine on a lease basis.

TransContainer′s sales network has 145 offices located throughout Russia and is the largest in the sector. The Company also offers freight-forwarding and logistics services in neighboring states via seven overseas representative offices and 12 agency companies. The Company’s client base includes more than 20,000 regular customers and is widely diversified by industry and region: the ten largest clients account for 16% of net revenues.
